Isolation After Death is a composite from a photographic series exploring the seclusion of the human form after death. Floating forms drift through a black abyss without consciousness of surrounding counterparts. The grieving process led me to photograph a series around my friend’s and family’s fragmented forms. To see them resting in a curated afterlife gave me peace of mind. Everyone fears, or at least feels uneasy with the idea of death; some individuals look towards religion and other belief to ease their minds about death. My way of coping is visualizing my fears within my minds-eye, setting them out in front of me, and letting them live as separate entities I can look at and away from. This image represents my imagined impression of death; the image lives here outside the borders of my distress.
